Ýòîò ãåí êîäèðóåò ÷ëåíà áåëêîâîãî ñåìåéñòâà êóëëèíîâ. Êîäèðóåìûé áåëîê èãðàåò âàæíóþ ðîëü â ïîëèóáèêâèòèíèçàöèè è ïîñëåäóþùåé äåãðàäàöèè ñïåöèôè÷åñêèõ áåëêîâûõ ñóáñòðàòîâ â êà÷åñòâå îñíîâíîãî êîìïîíåíòà è ñêýôôîëä-áåëêà[àíãë.] êîìïëåêñà óáèêâèòèíëèãàçû Å3. Êîìïëåêñû, âêëþ÷àþùèå êîäèðîâàííûé áåëîê, ìîãóò òàêæå èãðàòü ðîëü â êîíöå ñîçðåâàíèÿ ýíäîñîìû. Ìóòàöèè â ýòîì ãåíå ÿâëÿþòñÿ ïðè÷èíîé ïñåâäîãèïîàëüäîñòåðîíèçìà òèïà 2Å. Ñóùåñòâóþò àëüòåðíàòèâíûå âàðèàíòû ñïëàéñèíãà, êîäèðóþùèå ìíîæåñòâåííûå èçîôîðìû[3].
