Насекомые бирманского янтаря

Насекомые бирманского янтаря включает фоссилии около 1000 ископаемых видов 28 отрядов, имеющих возраст около 99 млн лет (меловой период). Насекомые представляют большинство находок в палеофауне этого янтаря[1][2][3][4]. Бирманский янтарь обнаружен в северо-восточной части Мьянмы (прежнее название Бирма, Юго-Восточная Азия), главным образом в штате Качин, граничащем с Китаем и Индией[5].

Содержание

История

Первые насекомые в бирманском янтаре были обнаружены и описаны в 1916 году. Сделал это открытие американский энтомолог Теодор Коккерелль, который первым предположил меловой возраст этих находок[6][7][8].
