Öèòîãëîáèí — ãëîáèíîâûé áåëîê, ýêñïðåññèðóþùèéñÿ âî âñåõ òêàíÿõ, è îñîáåííî ñèëüíî íàêàïëèâàþùèéñÿ ó ìîðñêèõ ìëåêîïèòàþùèõ. Ïîëàãàþò, ÷òî îí çàùèùàåò èõ îò ãèïîêñèè. Îäíà èç âåðîÿòíûõ ôóíêöèé öèòîãëîáèíà — ïåðåíîñ êèñëîðîäà èç àðòåðèàëüíîé êðîâè ê ìîçãó[2].
