Ammothea

Ammothea (лат.) (от др.-греч. «песок» + др.-греч. «богиня») — род морских пауков семейства Ammotheidae[1].

Длина тела от 0,14 (Ammothea acheliata) до 16,3 (Ammothea adunca) см[2]. Тело более тонкое, чем у Achelia или Tanastylum, без длинных щетинок. Клешни рудиментарные. Место прикрепления коротких двучлениковых хелифор хорошо видно. Педипальпы состоят из девяти сегментов. Хоботок от яйцевидного до продолговато-конического. Боковые отростки ног отстоят друг от друга не менее чем на половину ширины и не имеют высоких дорсодистальных бугорков. Второй членик яйценосных ножек не длиннее четвёртого. Брюшко короткое и тупое[3]. Встречаются в Тихом, Атлантическом и Южном океанах от тропических до полярных вод[4].
