Они записали более 50 синглов, из которых 20 достигали первого места в кантри-чарте США Hot Country Songs. Два из них, «My Maria» и «Ain’t Nothing 'bout You», становились лучшими кантри-песнями года в 1996 и 2001 годах, соответственно, по данным Billboard Year-End. Дуэт Brooks & Dunn выиграли множество музыкальных наград. Среди них звание лучшего кантри-дуэта года Country Music Association на протяжении нескольких лет подряд (Vocal Duo of the Year с 1992 по 2006 годы, кроме 2000). Кикс Брукс родился 12 мая 1955 года в городе Шривпорт (штат Луизиана, США)[1][3]. Брукс в 1980-х годах писал кантри-песни[3], в том числе, записал в соавторстве хиты № 1 «I'm Only in It for the Love» в исполнении John Conlee, «Modern Day Romance» группы Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, и «Who's Lonely Now» группы Highway 101[4]. Ронн Данн родился 1 июня 1953 года в городе Колмен (штат Техас, США)[1][5]. В 1989 году Данн принял участие в музыкальном конкурсе талантов, спонсируемом Marlboro, который он выиграл[4][5]. Гран-при этого конкурса включало призовую запись в Нашвилле. Продюсер этой сессионной звукозаписи, Скотт Хендрикс, рекомендовал материал, записанный Данном продюсеру Тиму Дюбуа, который тогда был главой лейбла Arista Nashville. Дюбуа и решил в итоге соединить Брукса и Данна в один дуэт[1]. Выбор оказался удачным и уже первый сингл дуэта Brooks & Dunn, названный, «Brand New Man», достиг первого места в кантри-чарте Hot Country Songs в сентябре 1991 году[6].
