Commodore has announced the $500 + Callback 8020 clamshell, a device inspired by the early 2000s designed to combat excessive smartphone use. The novelty received a 3.25 -inch screen, a MediaTek Helio G81 processor, 4 GB of RAM, FM radio, a 3.5 mm connector and a physical keyboard. The company frankly warns that the phone “may be a little slow.”
The main feature of Callback 8020 is the lack of a browser and social networks. The smartphone runs on Sailfish OS and is capable of running Android applications, but their list will be strictly limited. Commodore positions the device as a "middle ground" between a push-button and a modern smartphone, designed to take a break from work chats, notifications and an endless news feed.
