(language: English // Russian)
The first public release of W4ME Station has been announced. It is a runtime environment that allows unmodified WASM-4 game cartridges to run on standard J2ME phones supporting CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0. The project is written in Java, remains compatible with Java 1.3, and is released under the MIT license. It includes 13 games and demo cartridges, with both full and lightweight builds available for different types of devices. The runtime supports graphics, audio, input, save data, and installing additional cartridges from the Internet or directly from the phone's storage.
Also released is WiPhone Lab, an unofficial firmware fork for the ESP32-based WiPhone programmable phone with SIP/VoIP support. In addition to the phone's standard features, the project includes hardware diagnostics, reproducible builds, automated testing tools, and ports of Doom and Gravity Defied. The Doom port features sound effects and OPL2-emulated music, and requires a compatible IWAD file to run. The game ports are released under the GPLv2 license, while the main firmware is distributed under the WiPhone Public License 1.0.
