Commodore 128 turned into a ship tracker.

Enthusiasts have created AIS4CBM - a Commodore 128-based system capable of receiving and decoding AIS data and displaying ships on a map. Data reception and decoding are handled in assembly, while the interface is written in BASIC 8 and BASIC 7.
The computer requires a 512 KB REU, 64 KB of VDC memory, and a SwiftLink-compatible serial interface. The authors suggest using the Ultimate-II+ as a modern expansion to provide most of the required hardware. In a similar project, enthusiasts previously turned the Nintendo NES into a display for tracking real aircraft with NES Radar.
