STAT1 ÿâëÿåòñÿ ÷ëåíîì ñåìåéñòâà òðàíñêðèïöèîííûõ ôàêòîðîâ ïðåîáðàçîâàòåëåé ñèãíàëîâ è àêòèâàòîðîâ òðàíñêðèïöèè[àíãë.] . STAT1 ó÷àñòâóåò â ïîëîæèòåëüíîé ðåãóëÿöèè ãåíîâ ïî ñèãíàëàì èíòåðôåðîíà ëèáî òèïà I, òèïà II, èëè òèïà III.  îòâåò íà IFN- ñòèìóëÿöèþ, STAT1 îáðàçóåò ãîìîäèìåðû èëè ãåòåðîäèìåðû ñ STAT3, êîòîðûå ñâÿçûâàþòñÿ ñ GAS (Interferon G amma- A ctivated S equence) ïðîìîòîðíûì ýëåìåíòîì;  îòâåò íà ëþáóþ IFN- èëè IFN- ñòèìóëÿöèþ, STAT1 îáðàçóåò ãåòåðîäèìåð ñ STAT2, êîòîðûé ìîæåò ñâÿçûâàòüñÿ ñ ISRE ( I nterferon- S timulated R esponse E lement) ïðîìîòîðíûì ýëåìåíòîì.[1]  ëþáîì ñëó÷àå, ñâÿçûâàíèå ýëåìåíòà ñ ïðîìîòîðîì ïðèâîäèò ê óâåëè÷åíèþ ýêñïðåññèè ISG ( I nterferon- S timulated G enes).
Ýêñïðåññèÿ STAT1 â òîì ÷èñëå ìîæåò èíäóöèðîâàòüñÿ Äèàëëèëäèñóëüôèäîì , ñîäåðæàùèìñÿ â ÷åñíîêå.[2]
