IRF5 ÿâëÿåòñÿ ÷ëåíîì ñåìåéñòâà ðåãóëÿòîðíûõ ôàêòîðîâ èíòåðôåðîíà (ÌÀÔ), ãðóïïû òðàíñêðèïöèîííûõ ôàêòîðîâ ñ ðàçëè÷íûìè ðîëÿìè, â òîì ÷èñëå âèðóñ-îïîñðåäîâàííîé àêòèâàöèè èíòåðôåðîíà è ìîäóëÿöèè ðîñòà êëåòîê, èõ äèôôåðåíöèàöèè, àïîïòîçà è àêòèâíîñòè èììóííîé ñèñòåìû. ×ëåíû ñåìüè IRF õàðàêòåðèçóþòñÿ êîíñåðâàòèâíûì N-êîíöåâûì ÄÍÊ-ñâÿçûâàþùèì äîìåíîì, ñîäåðæàùèì ïîâòîðÿþùèéñÿ òðèïòîôàí (W). Ñóùåñòâóþò àëüòåðíàòèâíûå âàðèàíòû ñïëàéñèíãà, êîäèðóþùèõ ðàçëè÷íûå èçîôîðìû[1].
Êëèíè÷åñêîå çíà÷åíèå
IRF5 äåéñòâóåò êàê ìîëåêóëÿðíûé ïåðåêëþ÷àòåëü, êîòîðûé óïðàâëÿåò ìàêðîôàãàìè, áóäóò ëè îíè ñïîñîáñòâîâàòü èëè ïðåïÿòñòâîâàòü âîñïàëåíèþ. Áëîêèðîâàíèå ïðîèçâîäñòâà IRF5 â ìàêðîôàãàõ ìîæåò ïîìî÷ü â ëå÷åíèè øèðîêîãî ñïåêòðà àóòîèììóííûõ çàáîëåâàíèé, è ïîâûøåíèå óðîâíÿ IRF5 ìîæåò ïîìî÷ü â ëå÷åíèè ëþäåé, ÷üÿ èììóííàÿ ñèñòåìà ñëàáà, íåýôôåêòèâíà èëè ïîâðåæäåíà. IRF5 ïîõîæå ðàáîòàåò «ëèáî âçàèìîäåéñòâóÿ ñ ÄÍÊ íåïîñðåäñòâåííî, ëèáî ïóò¸ì âçàèìîäåéñòâèÿ ñ äðóãèìè áåëêàìè, êîòîðûå ñàìè óïðàâëÿþò, êàêèå ãåíû ïåðåêëþ÷àòü».[2]
