Ýòîò ãåí êîäèðóåò áîëüøóþ ñóáúåäèíèöó ÐÍÊ-ïîëèìåðàçû II, ïîëèìåðàçû, îòâåòñòâåííîé çà ñèíòåç ÐÍÊ ó ýóêàðèîò. Ïðîäóêò ýòîãî ãåíà ñîäåðæèò êàðáîêñèëüíûé C-Êîíåö, ñîñòîÿùèé èç ãåïòàïåïòèäíûõ ïîâòîðîâ, íåîáõîäèìûõ äëÿ ïîëèìåðàçíîé àêòèâíîñòè. Ýòè ïîâòîðû ñîäåðæàò ñåðèíîâûå è òðåîíèíîâûå îñòàòêè, êîòîðûå â àêòèâíîì ñîñòîÿíèè ôîñôîðèëèðóþò òðàíñêðèïöèþ ÐÍÊ-ïîëèìåðàçû. Êðîìå òîãî, ýòà ñóáúåäèíèöà, â ñî÷åòàíèè ñ íåêîòîðûìè äðóãèìè ñóáúåäèíèöàìè ïîëèìåðàçû, îáðàçóåò ÄÍÊ-ñâÿçûâàþùèé äîìåí ïîëèìåðàçû, â êîòîðîì ìàòðè÷íàÿ ÄÍÊ òðàíñêðèáèðóåòñÿ â ÐÍÊ.[1]
